Home Farm Temple Newsam

Home Farm at Temple Newsam is a great opportunity to come face-to-face with hundreds of child friendly farm animals. They include pigs, sheep, goats, cattle and ducks. Get hands on with the piglets and chickens running free in the yard!

Home Farm is a fantastic day out, value for money and a cheap treat for you and your family. On special event days enjoy traditional crafts, activities and demonstrations, such as butter making and blacksmithing. There’s even an amazing playground for the kids to let off a little steam.

Stroll along our historic cobbled yards, take time to explore traditional buildings and experience the sights and sounds of recreated workshops – including the timber yard and sawmill.

Our award winning conservation farm is one of the best-loved family attractions in Leeds. We are a working farm and home to some of the rarest breeds of farmyard animals in the country.

The Craft Centre and Design Gallery

Our aim is to take you on a journey to experience the talent, skill, originality and beauty of contemporary craft made by UK designer makers today. You too can own an original piece of art and share your enthusiasm for craft with others.

We are a small but efficient team of five and between us we look after everything from visiting trade shows and inviting designers to installing new exhibitions and preparing/distributing all our press and publicity. We even have to keep the gallery spotless! And of course somewhere in the middle of all this we find time to sell beautiful pieces of contemporary craft.

Each year our lively exhibition programme comprises four diverse front of house exhibitions, alongside two inspirational print shows and three dedicated showcases highlighting materials such as ceramics, glass and wood. In addition to this we celebrate the festive season with no less than seven unique exhibitions, carefully selected to demonstrate the wealth of beautiful hand crafted pieces perfect for every stocking! The exhibition programme is augmented by an ever changing selection of designers specifically chosen to support and enrich each individual showcase.

With work by over 300 designers on display at any one time you’re sure to find what you’re looking for; whether it be for inspiration, gift buying or simply to while away a peaceful lunch hour.

Royal Armouries

The Royal Armouries in Leeds is a multi-million pound purpose-built museum that opened to the public on 30th March 1996.

The museum is home to the national collection of arms and armour, and displays over 8,500 objects throughout its six themed galleries: War, Tournament, Oriental, Self-Defence, Hunting, and Peace.

There is also the impressive Hall of Steel and the outside Tiltyard where live shows take place.

The Royal Armouries Museum is located at Leeds Dock, only a short distance from the centre of Leeds, West Yorkshire.

What we do
Royal Armouries is the United Kingdom’s national museum of arms and armour, including artillery.

As a museum we have a duty of care for our objects: a duty to keep them, study them and increase our knowledge of them, so that this knowledge can be passed to future generations along with the objects themselves.

This knowledge can also be shared with others who also collect arms and armour. We are actively involved with, and support, a number of groups committed to the study of the subject and its practical applications. We offer an enquiry service for both the public and the commercial world alike, and have often acted as consultants on a number of film and television projects.
